(KJV) The beast that was, is separate from the collection of the seven kingdoms of the dragon, (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome). Also included is the dragon's dominion is the modern USA as a synthesis of Britain, the USSR and Nazi Germany. This final beast (from the sea) kingdom "is not" in the sense that the construction used to form the image is "fallen" as shown in the three woes. The crown of satan employed as the pale horse is insufficient to establish this kingdom upon the earth as a lasting kingdom. The kingdom of God has already arrived and it will grind the beast to powder with the wrath of God. However, the beast that we see in the three woes indeed ascends out of the bottomless pit and also goes to its own destruction. The remnants of this beast system are in view in this vision of the scarlet beast, the false propet now come to the full and the image system of the beast as over all peoples. This scarlet beast that is both historical (was) and can not be made (is not - a deadly wound) is healed (and yet is) with the image of the false prophets design, which leavens the church to become completely as it were the synagogue of satan, (totally become itself a source of leaven, with the whole church as a wholly leavened lump.) All those who dwell on the earth outside of Christ wonder also with admiration after the success of this beast and its image - they also give their worship in employing the dialectic process in their businesses, charities, associations, governments etc. In truth it is collections of people (waters) using it rather than their bits of paper. It is important to note that the beast from the earth and the beast from the sea are not physical entities, but spiritual. They can not be "created" since they are systems with inherant inward contradictions. The uptake of the dialectic process in the church leads to this scarlet beast and the woman. It is in men to sin rather than in structures - and the church becomes this false prophet or image because those within love their own evil deeds. In this case the beast "was" (once had status as the people of God) "is not" (can not be made the people of God because of its deadly wound) "and yet is" (because it appears to stand up as the people of God) All on the earth whose names are not written in the book of life wonder after this beast. Its arrival causes a great stir, and the dialectic method of the growth of the image system of religion is the mark of the beast that is applied to all that engage in the commerce of souls with her. The whole world worships the beast that was and is not and its image, the results of which are even as this same scarlet beast which yet is.
